Our little getaway

In 24 days we are off to NYC! Please share any specific things we HAVE to do. We will be there Thursday-Monday so we don't want to miss out on anything. Chris has never been and I have only been once. We travel so well together and I can't wait to see the city with my husband.
These are a few things we want to do:
Central Park
See a Broadway Play
take a double decker bus tour
Staten Island Ferry
Statue of Liberty
Grand Central Terminal
Empire State Building or Rockefeller Plaza Observation Deck "Top of the Rock"
Chinatown
Tiffany's
Ground Zero
Financial District
Mets game
and...The Today Show--stay tuned for more details about this stop on the tour :)
OK, so that's a ton, but I think we can do it. What I need now is suggestions to eat pizza, cheesecake, deli sandwiches, and any other yummy spots. Food will be a top concern with this pregnant lady and a husband that can eat his weight in food (and not gain a pound!). So jealous!

Carnegie Deli, Serendipity 3, Lombardi's (in little italy - eat there while visiting china town).

I heard top of the rock is better than empire (that's coming from someone who has been on top of empire two times and top of rock once).

Highly recommend Wicked if you haven't already seen it.

Oh - and BB Kings for dinner. Go there early. There is an early bird special and it is OUT OF THIS WORLD. You get appetizer, meal, dessert, etc - for $20. Go here and click on early dinner menu.

It's in Times Square so go there for dinner and then plan to do the times square thing that night. It is by far one of the best meals I've had.

Call ahead for reservations at serendipity 3. It's always crowded. You can eat there for lunch/dinner or just stop for a frozen hot chocolate. Here is serendipity 3-

And just down the block from Serendipity 3 is Dylan's Candy store. YOu have to go there, too. You can go there while you're waiting for Serendipity 3.

Here is link to Lombardis. DELICIOUS! It's in Little Italy and right at Chinatown so when you're there - it's good for lunch or dinner.

If you're in Greenwich village at mealtime, the Peanut Butter Co. is a good place to eat. Here's the link

Kitchenette is another little joint in Greenwich. Recommended by Stephanie.

Go to statue first thing in the morning and get on the first ferry. it gets crowded really fast. you can take the subway all the way down there. afterwards, walk back up towards midtown and then see Ground Zero. There is a pizza joint right in that area near the ground zero museum. Great slices of pizza. inexpensive, too.

When you visit statue of liberty - go to Ellis Island. The ferry will go to Statue first and then to Ellis - don't stop at STatue. You can't go up in it anymore (they only have limited amt of openings) and there isn't anything else to do there. But there is tons to see at ellis island so make sure to get off there.

Another food joint is Patsy's. Never been there but Stephanie raves about it. not sure where it is. just google it. it's italian.

Stephanie saw Memphis on Broadway and loved it. Of course, there's the Lion King, Les Mis, wicked, etc. Mary poppins may still be playing. I heard it was great.

Make sure to go to the MET also. And the Guggenheim museum is just a few blocks away if you're interested in seeing the architecture. I wouldn't go inside - the building is crazy and just funny to see. just a few blocks from museum.

And DO NOT FORGET to go to St. Patricks cathedral. It is absolutely one of the most breath taking things I've ever seen. And it's free.

When you buy your daily pass in the subway - ask the attendant in the little office place for a subway map. It's free and the best map of NYC I've ever seen. And I'd plan your days out working from the bottom of manhattan up (or vice versa). Lots to do so don't waste time going from one part of town to the next. Takes forever!

Ok, that's all I have to offer. Let me know if you need any more info.

one last thing - brooklyn bridge is way cool to see. we walked to the middle of it. seems like it's down at the foot of manhattan. can't remember. great picture taking, though.
